Z Bread (Elaine Killian)

Typewritten on the pretty card, stained though so it looks like she must have liked this one.  Hand written notes on it. 

3 eggs

2 cups sugar

1 cup oil (about 3/4 c oil)

(I use nucoa softened) (not sure what that means as it says oil and I think nucoa is margarine. . . . . )

2 cups grated squash

3 t vanilla (I substitued marschine cherry juice)

3 cups flour (I sub 2 cups oatmeal) (Not enough flour)

1 teaspoon salt

1 tea soda

3 tea cinnamon

1/4 t Baking Powder

1/2 tea nutmeg

1 cup cut up M. cherries

Grease and flour loaf pans. 

Bake 350 about 1 hour

She put nuts in too.

Frosting for Gingerbread Houses

Hand written, card looks newer, tiny spot of green looks like frosting.  Spelling is still Grandma’s. 

3 egg whites room temperature

1 lb powded sugar sifted

1/2 T cream tartar

Makes 3 cups

Beat for 7 – 10 minutes

Dries really quick

Keep covered with wet cloth

if dry 2 drops lemon juice
